CONCOR Launches New Containerised Rail Freight Service Connecting Morbi with Mumbai Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) has commenced a new containerised rail freight service connecting GCT/Rafaleshwar in Morbi, Gujarat, with CONCOR/Turbhe in Mumbai, in association with M/s TCI CONCOR. The initiative marks an important development in strengthening rail-based logistics connectivity for Morbi’s industrial and manufacturing sector. The new service is expected to provide a reliable, efficient and sustainable logistics solution for transporting ceramic tiles and other goods from the Morbi industrial region, one of India’s leading ceramic manufacturing hubs. The direct rail connection to Mumbai will offer manufacturers, exporters, traders and other businesses an additional logistics option for reaching major domestic markets, distribution networks and international trade gateways. Compared with conventional road transportation, rail freight can provide improved connectivity, operational efficiency and the potential to reduce logistics costs and environmental impact. The Morbi–Turbhe rail service is particularly significant for the region’s ceramic industry, where the movement of high-volume manufactured products requires efficient and dependable logistics infrastructure. The new service can improve cargo movement predictability while providing greater flexibility in transportation planning. The initiative also supports the Government of India’s broader PM GatiShakti vision of developing integrated multimodal transportation infrastructure, reducing logistics bottlenecks and improving supply-chain efficiency.
